Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Anchor (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Anchor iPhone and Mac application (the “App”) and this website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App or visit the website.
By using Anchor, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Anchor does not require account creation, login, or registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
1.2 Task and Calendar Data
All tasks, projects, time blocks, and calendar data you create in Anchor are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. If you turn on iCloud sync (part of Super Anchor), this data is also kept in your own private iCloud account and synced between your devices by Apple. We have no access to it.
1.3 Calendar and Reminders Access
If you enable Calendar or Reminders sync, Anchor accesses your Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders data using Apple’s EventKit framework. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to external servers.
1.4 Anonymous Usage Analytics
We use PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to collect anonymous usage analytics. These analytics help us understand how the App is used and improve the experience. The data collected includes:
- App launch events (app version, device type)
- Feature usage events (e.g., task created, task completed, focus block created)
- Purchase events (e.g., that the paywall was opened or a purchase completed, without any payment details)
- A random analytics ID created when you install the App, so events from the same install can be counted together. It is not your device’s hardware or advertising identifier and is not linked to your identity
- No names, emails, IP addresses, or hardware device identifiers are collected
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are used
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking is performed
1.5 Purchase Information
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. Apple’s privacy policy governs the handling of purchase data.
1.6 AI Tools on Mac (MCP Server)
The Mac app includes an optional MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets AI tools you choose, such as Claude, Codex or Cursor, read and plan your tasks and calendar in Anchor. It runs only on your Mac and stays off until you turn it on. Anchor itself does not send this data anywhere; when you connect an AI tool, what that tool reads may be sent to its provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI) under that provider’s privacy policy.
1.7 Voice Capture (iPhone)
Voice capture (part of Super Anchor) uses your iPhone’s microphone only while you hold New To Do and speak. Your speech is transcribed on your device by Apple’s speech recognition. The audio is not recorded or stored, and neither the audio nor the transcript is ever sent to us. To turn what you said into tasks, the transcript is processed by Apple Intelligence, on your device or, when needed, through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which Apple designed so that your data is used only for your request and is not stored or made accessible to Apple. Apple’s privacy policy governs this processing.
1.8 Siri, Shortcuts and Widgets
If you use Siri, Shortcuts, widgets or Live Activities, Anchor shares only the information they need with the system on your device. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.
1.9 This Website
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and clicks on the App Store buttons, along with the page’s language and whether it was viewed on a phone or a larger screen. It uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors or follow them across other websites. The website has no forms and no sign-in.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use anonymous analytics data solely to:
- Understand which features are used most frequently
- Identify areas for improvement
- Monitor app stability and performance
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties. Anonymous analytics data is processed by PostHog (EU-hosted) for the App and by Vercel for the website. If you turn on iCloud sync, Apple stores your data in your own iCloud account. If you connect an AI tool to the Mac app, that tool’s provider receives what it reads (see 1.6). No other third parties receive data from the App.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All user-created content (tasks, projects, time blocks) is stored locally on your device. With iCloud sync on, it is also stored in your private iCloud account and synced by Apple; we have no access to it.
- Widget and Live Activity data is shared between the App and its extensions using Apple’s App Groups, which remains on your device.
- Anonymous analytics are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to PostHog’s EU servers.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

8. Children’s Privacy
Anchor does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, no special provisions for children’s data are necessary.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
